This course is designed specifically for personnel working in the offshore oil & gas industry but it equally applies to anyone working with flammable substance or in hazardous areas. This includes  chemicals, pharmaceuticals, polymers, paints, utilities, tunneling, water treatment and power generation. It has been designed by Atex Inspections Ltd, a leading UK hazardous area inspection company with more than 40 years experience in the industry and its aims and objectives are to provide clear and concise instruction and information for personnel working in hazardous areas and with Ex equipment.

Personnel carrying out the installation and maintenance of Ex equipment should be competent to do so and they should be able to demonstrate that they can work safely and without risk to themselves and others. Since 2003, when the Atex Directives became Law throughout Europe, employers must provide hazardous area awareness training to all employees working in hazardous areas. This is not an option, it is the Law and this course will ensure you comply fully with this requirement. On completion of the course you will be able to:

.understand what a hazardous area is and where the hazard comes from

recognise the difference between zone 1 and zone 2

understand the basic principles of explosion protection used in Ex equipment

understand the different types of Ex protection, Exe, Exd, Exi etc

install and maintain Ex equipment in line with Atex, DSEAR and the international IEC standards

      inspect Ex equipment

understand the requirements of Atex and DSEAR and how to comply with them

The unique feature of this online course is that candidates can progress through the course at a time and pace that suits them. They can log-in anytime from anywhere, including work and home and there is no time limit to how long they take or how many times they take the tests.

When a candidate signs up they are given a username and password to access the site at thier leisure.
